Nina Sheridan desperately needs a timeout vacation. With a fiancé who can't even remember how she takes her coffee, Nina wants some distance to rethink her engagement. Flying halfway around the world from England to a mountain town in Colorado should do the trick. But when she finds a gorgeous man at her rental cabin, Nina's cold, lonely adventure suddenly heats up.
The owner of the house, Holden "Max" Maxwell is surprised by the beautiful woman who turns up at his door. But when Nina becomes ill, Max spends days nursing her back to health. A private man with a broken heart, Max finds himself drawn to the strong-willed woman. Soon it becomes impossible for Nina and Max to deny their growing attraction to one another. Yet even as these two wounded lovebirds think about taking a chance on a relationship, a dangerous secret from Max's past emerges-and threatens to end their love for good
I love Kristen Ashley!! Her writing, her characters and all her stories just pull me right in....
Holden Maxwell(Max) can be my Alpha Mountain Man any day. Hot, Controlling, Annoying and his own brand of Sweet. My only gripe was that he didn't tell Nina about his deceased wife sooner. I was glad he apologized (and please note, a REAL man can and does apologize) for getting angry with Nina for this. It was just a bad/sad situation, but I do love when a man wants to protect his woman! Swoon!!
Nina Sheridan (Duchess) needed a swift kick in the pants, since she could do so much better then that sap Niles. I mean she was going to "marry her father." Not literally, but his pompous and arrogant attitude was just like her father. She is such an amazing person to others, but didn't think too highly of herself. She gave everything (to Mindy, Max, Bitsy, and even Max's sister Kami), but would not take for herself. I was happy Max was able to give her that.
There was more than just a love story here. Murder Mystery, Baby Daddy Drama and Miscommunication Galore....But that's what made this read so great! Up Next is "Sweet Dreams."
