Rooke ~ Callie Hart

 photo Synopsis black scratch_zpst2tpkl6v.png
Watchmaker. Car thief. Heartbreaker extraordinaire.

Rooke Blackheath has spent enough time in juvie to know that he really doesn’t want to go to jail. The food sucks, the clothes itch, and there are absolutely no women in sight. Well…none he wants to fuck, anyway.

He should probably stop boosting cars, but the money is stellar and the high is out of this world. And why should he turn his back on something that sets his soul on fire anyway?

The answer to that question comes in an unexpected form: a petite five-foot-three firecracker named Sasha who refuses to give him the time of day no matter how thick he lays on the charm.

Rooke’s not easily deterred, though. Just like the watches he builds from scratch, Rooke knows all too well how women tick. Women are a game to him. A game he always wins.

Sasha doesn’t stand a chance.

***

Sasha Cross’s life has been permanently derailed since her son died five years ago. You wouldn’t know it to look at her, of course. She has a great job, a beautiful house, and caring friends. Every week, she hosts a book club featuring the sexiest, most romantic stories on the planet, and every week she falls for a new fictional knight in shining armor.

Fictional men are perfect, though. They don’t hurt you. They don’t break your heart. They don’t cheat on you after your child dies, and they rarely ever leave the toilet seat up.

When Rooke Blackheath shows up at Sasha's workplace, it’s clear he’s nothing like the men who grace the pages of Sasha's favorite books. Dangerous, arrogant, sharp-tongued and sarcastic, Rooke’s not the kind of guy she needs in her life. Not to mention the fact that he’s eleven years her junior.

They don’t live in different worlds. As far as Sasha is concerned, Rooke lives in a different galaxy altogether. She’d like to keep it that way, but fate appears to have other plans.

When Cinderella lost her shoe, Prince Charming showed up at her door.

When Sasha Cross loses her book, an entirely different kind of rogue comes a-knocking.

I have to say after reading the first chapter, I though this book would go in a completely different direction. To say there are some twists and drama, is an understatement. There’s a lot going on in this book and I think this book could have been split up in to a couple different books.

Rooke is an alpha hottie, no doubt. He seems older than his 23 years, but that could be because of his time in Juvi and the experiences he has had in his past. He has his own demons and unsavory people in his life that could affect their relationship or even the start of one.

While Sasha can’t seem to get past her own tragedy, Rooke is the calm to her freak-outs and is the only person to break down her walls. Her tragedy is definitely a tragedy that most could not overcome and she seems to have a lot happen to her for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is an action-packed story with a lot of different things going on and it seemed to wrap up rather quickly. I would have loved more of the two of them and maybe more of the backstory of Sasha’s past. I’d even like more of Rooke’s past and what has made him so angry, even before the stent in Juvi. Still love Callie and her writing, but wanted more with Rooke.

Mack Daddy ~ Penelope Ward

 photo Synopsis black scratch_zpst2tpkl6v.png
They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie.

Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?
So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.

At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.
Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy. I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.
They didn’t know about our past.
He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.

As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.

I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart.
Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.

And soon I might be breaking all the rules.

Author's note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel

I loved Frankie and Mack. When Mack brings his son Jonah to the private school that Frankie teaches at you can see the instant sparks. Something happened in their past and it seemed like it did not end well. Mack is super-hot so every single mother wants him and Frankie is trying her best to stay away. She's the quirky, different, nerdy girl that Mack has a history with, but she’s the only woman he trusts with his son.

There are some characters in this book that I wanted to stab with a spoon, a rusty spoon. I mean they are vile, evil people. All I wanted was for Karma to come back and bite them big time. The pain and angst that Frankie and Mack had to go through was heartbreaking. They both had their own issues to work past and then add in these nasty people, I just wanted to hurt them.

I guess that’s why I loved the book so much. There was a ton of emotions in it and the love Frankie and Mack have is the real thing. The drama, hurt, and pain that Frankie, Mack and Jonah had to endure only made their story more special. I read the book in 1 day because I had to know what happened, but I also didn’t want it to end. Sigh.

Chandler ~ Laurelin Paige

I'm good in a boardroom, but I’m better in the bedroom. Much better. I can charm the skirt off any woman in one encounter. I'll even give her an orgasm before I put her in a cab. Or three. No more or she’ll start making plans for the future and I'm not into that.

Or I wasn’t until Genevieve Fasbender. She's the first woman in five years that I want to spend the whole night with. And she's the first woman who’s told me I'm not what she wants in a lover, even after multiple O’s. She’s brash and bold and stubborn as hell, and she doesn’t believe it’s possible to satisfy her.

But I’m up for the challenge.

And after an incident in my brother’s office closeta downright dirty incidentI think I’m just the guy to deliver.

Genevieve Fasbender will never know what’s coming.

I really enjoyed meeting the younger Pierce. He was a bit of a playboy, no repeats, no sleep overs, but that’s because he’s prone to fall in love. He is definitely a giver and his reputation precedes him.  This playboy persona he has created has made it difficult for others to see how smart and creative Chandler really is. He is constantly battling to come out from his brother, Hudon’s shadow as well. When meeting Genevive, he is instantly attracted and enthralled with her. As they get to know each other, he sees that Genny has similar obstacles to overcome and maybe, just maybe they can help each other.

Genevive is smart and beautiful, yet her father can’t seem to get past that she is a woman and doesn’t seem interested in any of her ideas. In her mind, getting in to bed with Chandler Pierce would be sticking it to her father. She can’t get Chandler out of her head as hard as she may try, but he is a complete distraction from the career she has worked so hard for. She can’t do this, not now.

Some of the Pierce enemies return and things are definitely not all they seem to be. There are misunderstandings, deception, trust issues and a lot of yummy, dominate sex scenes. Talk about a fun roller coaster ride of emotions! Chandler was really well written and kept me wanting to know what would happen next!

Playboy Pilot ~ Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Money or love? Which would you choose?

You probably just answered the question in your head thinking it's an easy decision.

For me, it's not. Did I mention it's a lot of money? A hell of a lot.

I needed to go far away to think it through.

As I embarked on an impulsive trip, I hit a detour when I met sexy Carter in the airport lounge. We struck up a heated conversation.

Then, he left.

I thought I'd never see him again.

But fate had other plans.

Surprise! He was the pilot of my flight.

The bigger surprise was the adventure that followed after the plane landed.

Carter was dangerous and always on the move.

Even though our connection was magnetic, I knew it was only temporary.

He would give me tickets, and I would follow him around the world to exotic places.

A bevy of flight attendant exes and rumors about Carter's reputation were never far behind.

I didn't know what to believe.

But I was addicted. Nothing else mattered anymore. And I was going to get hurt. Because a part of me wanted to be the one to finally ground the playboy pilot.

At the very least, he was taking me on a thrilling ride.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

I really liked this collaboration by Penelope and Vi. When these two write a book together, it’s definitely an instant one-click.

While Carter is your typical playboy, we can see early on he is searching for something. What that something is, he’s not too sure yet, but he’s having his fun while he can. That normally doesn’t bother him, except now he’s spilled his drink on an interesting beauty that he doesn’t know how to handle. A few suggestions in the airport and boom, she’s on his flight!

Kendall is in an odd predicament. She’s trying to decide if money is more important than her happiness. But there are other factors involved that I don’t want to spoil for anyone, so I’ll just say it sucks. While she’s flying around the world with Carter, there are some interesting….uh….situations that happen that both crack me up and make me panic. While stuck with this predicament, Kendall acted somewhat immature at times, which was explained by her silver spoon, sheltered childhood. At times I was frustrated with her actions, but in the end, she grew up. They both grew up.

Overall, I really liked this book. It was funny, sexy, hot, and emotional. I loved Carter as the sweet, in love pilot, but felt bad for his old playboy ways. I loved Kendall’s spirit, but at the same time was frustrated by some of her decisions. Kendall was the only one to see a certain side of Carter, because most only saw him as the gorgeous pilot, but her was so much more. I loved that about their love story. It was special.

Royal Savage ~ Victoria Ashley

 ROYAL SAVAGE
I CAN’T CLOSE MY EYES… I refuse to. Every time I do, all I see is blood, death, and pain. I can feel it - almost taste it, bringing me back to that night.
It doesn't matter that I'm still breathing; I no longer need it, I no longer want it. I despise it along with everything else around me.

The only thing I long for is to fucking fade away. I've given up. Until her at least…

AVALON.
She comes into my world, knocking me on my ass.
It turns me on to have her around me. Makes me want to wrap my hand around her tight little throat and fuck her until she feels my pain, feels the monster in me, but also makes me want to protect her from the very thing that she should be afraid of... me.
Once she sees the damage that I’m capable of; she’ll look at me like everyone else around me does: with fear.

AVALON KNIGHT

HIS EYES... THE DARKNESS IN them draws me to him, making me want to taste him, feel him… and save him. I shouldn't have gotten on the back of his motorcycle that day. I know that now. Colton warned me. I was told it was dangerous. I was told that nothing would be the same. He was right.
ROYAL is dangerous, dark, and seductive; the very thing that keeps me hanging on, willing to give my last breath just to touch him… breathe him in.
He’s savage, inked, and highly captivating. So different from his brother…
He's hazardous to my health, mind, and body, yet the only thing that I crave. I want to free him. I want to change his mind, but I'm afraid that he’s already too faded…

So I have to admit, this was my first Victoria Ashley book. Why the hell did I wait so long to pick her up?! I absolutely loved Royal Savage!

Royal, bad ass with a big heart and traumatic past, blows right in and steals your heart. He’s sexy scary in all the best ways, but completely messed up in the head. He’s more romantic and emotional then he’ll ever admit, constantly wanting to keep his walls up, but he can’t stay away from Avalon. She’s sucked him in and she is all he thinks about. He wrestles with his past and if he can move on with this beautiful, sexy, smart woman, while letting go of what he had.

I love me a good, strong female character. Avalon is tired of taking her boyfriend’s crap and kicks him to the curb. She’s doing her now and dreaming about doing Royal too. She hates all the stereotypical bullshit, so she’ll do whatever she can to defend Royal against his parents, his brother or her boss. All of them think he’s a bad person for riding a motorcycle, wearing tattoos, standing up for and defending himself. They said he was destructive and dangerous, but once we find out the truth of what happened, I believe Royal did what he had to do and I don’t blame him one bit…..Neither does Avalon. She’s perfect for Royal and exactly what he needs.

"Hold on tight, Darlin', and don't fucking let go."
~Royal

While Royal Savage had death, destruction and drama, it also had love, hot sex and parts that hit you right in the feels. Love this couple and would totally love to read more about them!

Cash (Sexy Bastard #2) ~ Eve Jagger

The minute any woman walks into my bar, I can tell two things about her: what she wants to drink, and how she likes to f*ck.

I’m Cash: bartender at the hottest bar in Atlanta. I’ve got girls lining up around the block, and they all know the rules: no strings, no promises, and no morning-after snuggling. You want brunch? Call your sister. You want the best sex of your life? Call me. Or better yet, just drop by the bar anytime. Clothing optional.

There’s a reason they call me a sexy bastard.
And yes, I really am that good.

 photo red 5 star_zpswbhohhgy.png

Eve Jagger does it again!! She sucks me right in with two fun, sassy and super sexy characters. I love Cash and Savy!!

Cash is a notorious “love ‘em and leave ‘em” type, which is all well and good, because after Savannah’s last relationship, she’s just looking for a guy to help her broken heart. Their friendship and quick wit quicvkly escalate to something more. Cash and Savy’s sexual chemistry is HOT, HOT, HOT!!

When it gets to the point where the innuendo’s and flirty just doesn’t do it anymore, Savy takes matters in to her own hands and gets what she wants…Cash. What she wasn’t ready for, was to believe that his demons were not things he wanted to lie to her about, but things he was ashamed of. His relationship with his parents sucked and he was just getting back in to his sisters good graces. Throw in a little of Savannah’s past and you have one cluster of drama.

Oh but the makeup sex is so, so good!!

Complicate Me (The Good Ol' Boys Series #1) ~ M. Robinson

Amazon US / UK

 photo Synopsis_zpshy1vcpnk.png
It was complicated, it was also just the beginning.

A decision.

A simple choice.
There is always that one moment in life where things could have been different. That one moment where you could have chosen a path that would lead you down a certain road.
A different life.
It was easier to pretend that we were still best friends, and that she was my girl and I was her boy.
Pretending was better than knowing the truth...
I. Ruined. Us.
I had her.
I lost her.
I love her.
All I did was complicate us.

I loved, loved, loved Complicate Me. This one hits you right in the Feels! Darn you M. Robinson and your fantastic characters. I could not put this one down and I could not stop the tears from falling….both sad and happy.

photo Crying but trying not to_zpssqmbkcsq.gif

Best Friends for Life. We’ve all said it, but who can actually claim they have those friends that have lasted a life time. These Good Ol’ Boys do and that includes their half pint. Sigh

Lucas was an ass. He was immature, seduced by peer pressure and well, to be honest, a typical teenage boy. It was emotional watching him learn from his mistakes and grow up, but eventually he did just that… Grew up.

Alex, half-pint, held out for Lucas for-ev-er! She pined over him and wished she could be his girl. That he could be hers. When she finally gets tired of not having anyone (double standard alert) while all the guys get to have that companionship, she meets Cole.

I’ll be honest; I was Team Lucas all the way. Even when he was being an idiot, I realized that he was just over ruled by peer pressure, hormones and his own fears. Cole weired me out and always made Alex seem like a conquest in stead of a person. Had she not been such a challenge, would he have gone for her? Lucas always cared for her. Her, Alex, not the “prize” of Alex, but the person….even if he had a messed up way of showing it.

If you haven’t read this, you must “one-click” this now. I cannot wait to hear about all the Good Ol’ Boys. Those are some hot, sexy men with some fun ahead.
