The Trials of Guinevere DeGrance (Legendary Rock Star Series #5) ~ L.B Dunbar

AMAZON US / UK
iBOOKS / B&N / KOBO

Don’t judge me. I know you want to, but let’s get some facts straight in my defense.
1. I love Arturo King
2. He left me behind.
3. I was lonely.
4. Lansing was an old friend.
5. I love Arturo King.

Did you burn the fictional damsel in distress that cuddled and kissed her best friend when her fantastical boyfriend disappeared for months? No, you didn’t. You sympathized with her loneliness before you read ahead to make sure the boyfriend was coming back to her. Loneliness is not a crime. It’s cruel to be alone, but not a crime, the last I knew. If it is a crime, I’ll light the match to ignite myself for what I’ve done. Goodness knows I’m burning up with guilt as it is. But I want my story to be told in my defense before I’m judged too harshly. Arturo King might be a rock star legend, but he and I are human. We make mistakes. We made mistakes. Do we need to suffer for all of eternity because of them? I hope not. The jury still seems to be out, though. The greater question is: Is it possible to rekindle our love, when the secrets could burn us all?

Holy Crap! Arturo has returned!! Guinevere and Arturo are still hot as ever for each other, but their anger is all consuming. I could feel it through LB’s writing and I absolutely loved it.

Each deserved to be angry, hurt and heartbroken with each other. The angst leading up to when Arturo and Guinie finally talk was powerful. The constant push and pull of the tension, the miss communications and the involvement of Ana had me on edge and wanting to slap a few people myself.

I won’t give away too much, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book in the series and while I thought it would be the conclusion, there is plenty to run with should LB want to continue. I’m so involved with these characters now; I hope that there is more coming. (Fingers Crossed)

Tainted Black ~ Shanora Williams

 photo Blurb_zpsdwi4gy3k.png

Dear Mr. Black,

I know you were hurting. I heard your cries. I wished over and over again that I could make it better, but as you stated I was too inexperienced; too good for someone as bad as you.

Perhaps you were right, but it didn't matter because what I did know was that I loved the way you felt--loved the way you smelled. I loved how hard you got for me, and when you called me your Little Knight.

I can still remember that day in the park, when you held me close and kissed me deep. How you effortlessly made me cry your name on top of sweet smelling grass, making me feel like the only girl in the world. I loved how you looked at me, how you spoke to me.
I had been madly in love with you ever since I was twelve years old, but I shouldn't have been.
Isabelle would have hated it--my best friend. I couldn't afford to lose her. Besides, you two had already lost enough. Losing Mrs. Black was the epitome.

It's Chloe Knight.

I wanted to be there for you no matter what, but Isabelle needed me too.

And she would have hated me if she ever found out I was sleeping with her father.

** Tainted Black is a forbidden love-story about a girl who helplessly falls for her best friend's father. After a tragic accident ends the life of Theo Black's wife, he turns to the one person he has always found interesting.

Chloe Knight, the girl from across the street, his daughter's best friend, and a person that is considered completely off limits for him. **

- WARNING: If you aren't a fan of taboo love stories, age gaps/differences, of if you're expecting a novel with that "unicorn and rainbows" type of feel, then this may not be the novel for you. But if you want to read about an alpha male with a tortured soul that rides a motorcycle and owns a boat named Dirty Black, then READ this! You may have just have found the right kind of love story for you! -

OMG!! There is so much I want to say about this book, so many memes I want to create and so many emotions that held me hostage while reading Tainted Black. This forbidden love story grips you right from the start. You know it’s wrong, but Chloe and Theo fit so right. I had a hard time reeling my emotions in for all the characters in this book. The twists, turns and heart wrenching scenes were almost too much, but that’s what makes this book so good.

 photo 702457_zpsmsk8n8x5.gif

The Blacks and Chloe’s family was more intertwined then I ever imagined. I was constantly on the edge of my seat and several times wanted to reach through my kindle to smack someone or hug them. Trixie was one of those people I wanted to throat punch. Not that I felt it was right that Theo and Chloe had to hide their affair, I was going to rip out Trixie’s hair for blackmailing them.

You could feel Chloe and Theo’s love for each other. Their chemistry was explosive and the sparks could be felt through my kindle. As much love as they had for each other, their love for Theo’s daughter, Izzy overcame it all. Get the tissues ready for that. I understand and get it, but my heart is still with Theo and Chloe. (Sorry, trying not to spoil too much if you haven’t read it yet…..because you need to)

Getting Hot (Jail bait Book #3) ~ Mia Storm

 photo Blurb_zpsdwi4gy3k.png
**A stand alone Jail Bait novel**

Rules of engagement:

1) You have the right to use force to defend yourself.

2) Fire may be returned to stop a hostile attack.

3) You may not seize the property of others to accomplish your mission.

4) Detention of civilians is authorized in self-defense.

Delilah Morgan and her older sister Destiny have been on their own for two years, since their parents burned down the family home and went to jail for cooking meth. She’s street smart and tough. Nothing about her says sixteen, and she’s not about to tell anyone. Especially Bran, the hot ex-marine bartender Destiny has her eye on. He’s stable and successful and everything her sister needs to keep them off the street. The only problem, something about Bran inspires her and suddenly she’s writing the best music she ever has. About him.

Branson Silo knows what it means to be in the line of fire. Home for a year from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, he thinks he’s safe…until he meets Delilah. Despite a sharp tongue that makes him want to take cover, he can’t deny the attraction. But when he hires her to play weekends at his family’s saloon, he finds out she’s more than he can handle…which is saying something considering he used to blow things up for a living.

When the grenade finally explodes and the shrapnel flies, will Bran be left standing? Or has he survived years at war only to be taken down by Jail Bait?

Holy Hotness Batman!! Brandon Silo is one sexy alpha, with predatory eyes and a stare that could melt your panties!! Wow! I felt that all through the pages of this book. He’s smart and strong, but unfortunately suffers from his own terrors of his past. He takes care of the ladies around him in the bar (his mom, sister and other waitresses), which makes sense why Destiny (Delilah’s sister) wants him for stability. Destiny and Bran never have the sparks that Lilah and Bran do. Yummy!

Delilah is one kick ass chick who had to grow up rather quick due to circumstances at home. Now it’s only Destiny and Lilah against the world, until Bran. Lilah is trying to get a job to help support her and her sister, but Destiny demands that Lilah still go to school. Her best friend gets a shot on “The Voice” and actually sings a song Lilah wrote on the show. Being the great man that he is, Bran brings her to see her best friend perform. Sparks and fireworks ignite, but for two totally different reasons…..

I loved this story and it can definitely be read as a standalone. I read the first in the Jail Bait series, but missed the second (which I will go back to now, for sure), and I was able to follow along with no problem. I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a sexy good guy, a smart and strong woman and some amazingly hot sex!

Where We Belong (Alabama Summer #4) ~ J. Daniels

Ben and Mia Kelly can’t seem to catch a break.

Grueling night shift and opposing schedules have left the passionate couple geared up and ready for some much needed alone time. There’s only one thing standing in their way.

Parenthood.

With two curious boys who have mastered the art of cock-blocking roaming the house, Ben and Mia, sexually frustrated beyond reason, quickly resort to surprise sexcapades and naughty little trysts whenever and however they can get them.

Who said anything about keeping things legal?

Assume the position. Things are about to heat up in the south.

Warning: This book is recommended for readers over the age of 18 due to strong language and explicit sexual content.

This is a super sexy-sweet novella that I loved. The topic hits close to home, since I too have a step-son who I love as my own.  I have not had the privilege of reading the Alabama Summer Series, but if this novella is any indication of the struggle and triumph of Mia and Ben’s relationship… Well, I have moved those books to the top of my list.

Mia and Ben’s chemistry is off the charts, yet they struggle with everyday things like most people do; work, kids, family, friends and most importantly, time together as a couple. A lot of the former things can get in the way of the latter things and J. Daniels takes us through Mia and Ben’s struggle with this. It makes them more human and less of a fictional couple.

I didn’t know about Mia and Ben’s back history, but the glimpses I see of Nolan’s birth mom and Nolan’s relationship with Mia, I get how attached Mia is to Nolan and how attached Nolan is to her. That is his mommy in every sense of the word and I am so proud of the way Mia (and Ben too) handle themselves when Nolan’s mom gets out of jail. That’s it. That’s all I’m going to say about that and not give any more spoilers.

Mia and Ben’s love for each other flows off the pages. The chemistry sparks and the sex is off the charts!! Nolan and Chase complete this beautiful family along with all their close friends. I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and only wished I had read the series before I read the novella, but only to know more about these wonderful characters. ::Sigh::

Fates Warrior (The Fate Series #3) ~ Screaming Mimi

Former Army Ranger Martin Damien has only ever been able to trust his battle buddies, everyone else has failed him. From his parents who sold him for drugs to the foster care system that didn’t protect him to the women who used him, they have failed him.

Even after Alexis’s prince charming turned out to be a toad in tin foil she still believes in happily ever after she just has to convince Martin it’s possible. She’s stubborn, full of spirit, and willing to do whatever it takes to win the battle for his heart. When the past comes back to haunt her Martin is willing to do whatever it takes to protect, even if that means his own life.
Will her Warrior fight fate or will he submit to it?

3 Warrior Stars

Lexi and Martin have both had their share of troubled pasts. Lexi is sexy, strong and smart, but also vulnerable due to her ex. This stirs Martin’s protective instincts. Unfortunately, Martin’s not very good at biting his tongue and often says the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Lexi’s ex “shared” her with other men and one of them has come back to claim her. While Martin tries to protect her, this mystery man takes Martin and tries to use him as leverage against Alexis. In the midst of recovery, Martin asks a stupid question, while trying to be concerned with Alexis’s safety, but comes off like he thinks differently of her. Their miscommunication was frustrating. You could see they both loved each other. Just want these two to talk it out and be together already. LOL

Souls Unfractured (Hades Hangmen #3) ~ Tillie Cole

 photo Synopsis black scratch_zpst2tpkl6v.png
"For fractured souls are like magnets.
Drawn to collide into an impossible bliss…"

Labeled a ‘Cursed’ woman of Eve from birth, Maddie has endured nothing but pain and repression at the hands of The Order’s most abusive elder, Moses. Now living with her sister in The Hangmen’s secluded compound, finally, Maddie, is free. Free from the suffocating faith she no longer believes in. Free from endless years of physical and mental torment.

Just… free…

At age twenty-one, the timid and shy Maddie is content to live within the confines of her new home—safe from the outside world, safe from harm and, strangely, protected by the Hangmen’s most volatile member; the heavily pierced and tattooed, Flame.

Flame.

The man who ceaselessly watches over her with his midnight dark and searing eyes. The man who protects her with a breath-taking intensity. And the man who stirs something deep within her numbed heart.

But when circumstances conspire for Flame to need HER help, Maddie bravely risks it all for the broken man who has captivated her fragile soul.

The Hangmen’s most infamous member, Flame, is ruled by one thing—anger. Plagued by haunting demons from his past, an all-consuming rage, and isolated by an abhorrent hatred of being touched, Flame's days are filled with suffocating darkness, pierced only by a single ray of light—Maddie. The shy, beautiful woman he cannot purge from his thoughts. The woman he has an overwhelming need to possess…

... the only person who has ever been able to touch him.

Flame’s mission in life is to protect Maddie, to keep her safe. Until a trigger from his troubled past sends him spiraling into madness, trapping him in the deepest recesses of his disturbed mind.

His Hangmen brothers fear that Flame is beyond saving.

His only hope of salvation: Maddie and her healing light.

Dark Contemporary Romance.

Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language, and very mature topics.

Recommended for age 18 years and over.

Amazing!! Truly, there are no words to describe how profound this story is. I could not wait for this release and Tillie Cole did not disappoint.

Maddie and Flame are explosive….. Emotionally, physically and mentally. The glimpses we see in to these two’s past is completely gut wrenching and I physically want to do harm to those that caused their pain. They were told they were evil, that they were sinners and that no one would love them. Yet, they are two of the most loveable people.

As “different” as Flame is, his openness with Maddie is refreshing and inspiring. Instead of all the fluff or pretty words that most women want, Maddie needs honesty. That is what Flame can give her. She is the one he can touch and she calms the flames. His protective instincts for her are sexy as hell and makes Maddie feel safe. With that sexy body, dark soulful eyes and hot beard, what more could you want?

Maddie has her own demons from her past she wants to move on from. Feeling damaged herself; Maddie is able to understand Flame’s struggles and is strong enough to try for the both of them. Her sketches tell Flame exactly what she hopes and dreams for them and Flame comes to realize he wants the same thing, but only from Maddie. She might be “the little one,” but she’s a fire cracker and the only one tough enough to be Flame’s old lady.

Their love is timeless. It will be one for the ages and Souls Unfractured just pulls at every heart string you have. It’s raw, gritty, and emotional, with beautiful scenes of love and devotion. I could not put this down and I cannot wait for more!!!
