Forbid Me (The Good Ol' Boys #2) ~ M. Robinson

It was only a matter of time until the truth came out.
I never thought it would come to this…
I tried, God knows I tried to stay away from her but eventually I crossed that line and broke that trust. I could no longer go back and I sure as fuck didn’t regret a single moment of it. I knew there would be hell to pay, I knew the wrath I’d be facing but I would willingly take the burns and scars just to have the love of my best friend's sister.
If there is one person I’d willingly go to hell and back for it was…

Lillian Ryder

Standalone within a series. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Strong language and sexual content, not intended for readers under 18.

I absolutely loved Forbid Me! Dare I say, I loved it more than Complicate Me?! I know you are all saying “for shame,” but I could not get enough of Jacob! Yes, both are 5 star reviews to me, but Forbid Me would be a 5++.

While Forbid Me can be read as a standalone, I’m happy I read Complicate Me before hand. Major props to M for being able to reference things that happened in Complicate Me, without taking up space in this story to recap it all. It drives me crazy when authors do that just to stretch out a book. M’s characters are well developed and her writing gets you sucked right in to the story. I also completely love the now and then theme going on thorough out the book. The fact that there was drama (the forbidden best friend’s baby sister and 7 year age difference) it was not “in your face” craziness, which made it more enjoyable for me. I didn’t have to hear about the details of them sleeping with other people, which we know happens, but it wasn’t thrown in their faces. That would have hurt my heart as I’m sure it would have theirs. Make sense?

While Jacob and Lily started off as young and immature, we were able to see them grow up and feel their connection through the pages. There were many emotional times where I wanted to smack some sense in to those two. (Granted, not as much as Lucas and Alex though). As stubborn as Lily was, I’m also proud of her for standing her ground and not jumping in too soon. On the other hand, yes, Jacob screwed up, but he worked really hard to earn her trust and love back. This could have been avoided had he told Lily what happened those years ago, but his own personal hurt and embarrassment held him back.

Lily’s connection to her mom gutted me. This was something that hit really close to home for me. Watching someone you love suffer and being completely helpless, trying to get in every last moment you can and then still not being sure if you said all the things you wanted to say, just… well it fucking blows. It eats away at you and couple that with the struggles that she had with Jacob…no wonder Lily had her walls up.

That being said, I’m glad Jacob didn’t give up. Actually, I was kind of cheering that he had to work hard since he gave Half-Pint and Lucas such a hard time about their relationship. He didn’t run and didn’t let Lily run, either. A certain “battery” scene comes to mind. :: giggle:: Once you read the book, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I laughed, cried, made frustrated noises and had to fan myself a couple times due to the hot sex scenes!! You can’t help but fall in love with these two and you can’t help but itch for Dylan and Aubrey’s story next. Well done M, well done.

Lies (Phoenix Undercover Book 1) ~ C.A. Harms

FBI Agent Joshua Phoenix goes undercover…Deep.

Thrust into a world of drugs and criminal activity, integrating himself into the Russian Mafia turned out to be much more than Josh bargained for.

It’s dark and it’s dangerous.

The lives they destroy along the way will never be the same.

The things he is forced to do will haunt him forever.

Even more importantly, he never planned on meeting her…

A chance encounter with Real Estate Agent Gabriella Shannon, has Josh questioning his ability to complete his mission.

And now the dark world may consume them both.

He’s in too deep.

Leaving now would only risk the safety of those around him.

But when his cover’s blown Josh is forced to make a decision that will reroute his future.

One decision.

The hardest decision he will ever have to make in his life.

And those he meant to protect will be the ones who suffer the most…

I’m a huge C.A. Harms fan and Lies did not disappoint!!
Gabby and Josh have great chemistry and you can feel it right from the time they meet. While Greyson, Josh’s partner and friend, tries to hook up at a club, Josh’s date ends up being less than stellar. That’s when Josh meets Gabby.

While they both make fun of his date, Josh really takes in Gabby’s beauty. She is a smart and successful realtor….and Josh gets totally hooked. Unfortunately, he starts this heavy undercover job right before they start dating and is away for days at a time.

Their time together in between Josh’s time away is hot, steamy and romantic. But, the constant battle with the job starts to take its toll on their relationship and when Gabby’s sister goes missing, all hell breaks loose.

It gets a little suspicious with the Russian mob, Josh undercover and Gabby’s sister missing all happening around the same time, but I will say that the plot twist was not something I expected. I was so ready to see what happened next, and then, boom, CLIFFY. Gah!! I need more of Josh and Gabby’s story!!

Monster Prick (An Older Brother's Best Friend Romance) ~ Kendall Ryan

Over my dead body.

That's what I told Gracie when she informed me of her plan to pick some random guy she met online to get rid of her pesky virginity.

If anyone is touching her, it's going to be me.

I shouldn't even be considering it, but I can't get it out of my head: her, under me, begging me.

***

Arrogant. Cocky. Prick.

Those are the words I’d use to describe my older brother’s dangerously handsome best friend.

When he learned of my plan to kick off my white cotton briefs, ditching my good girl persona once and for all by losing my virginity to the first eligible bachelor I could find, he flipped out. Said over his dead body.

He says if anyone’s going to do it, it’s going to be him.

I hate that I’m even considering his offer.

But I am … I sooo am.

Ever since he suggested it, all I can think about is his cocky smile on those full lips as he’s driving in to me.

But if we cross that line … will I ever be able to go back?

MONSTER PRICK is a spin off novella from SCREWED, but can be read as a standalone, as it features a new couple.

I loved Monster Prick!! This was a quick, sexy and hot read. I agree that this can be read as a standalone, but would make more sense if read after Screwed. The characters are referenced in Monster Prick, but Kendall does a good job of catching you up on who they are without repeating the whole Screwed story.

I love stories where the heroine has made her own way and is successful. That makes them even more beautiful. Gracie is one of those women. She is smart and sexy and crazy about her brother’s best friend.

Gracie is forbidden to Hudson, but he still can’t help his growing feelings. Hudson gives her little hidden gifts through her whole life and has always thought highly of Gracie. Once Gracie grew up, Hudson was screwed. He has to battle between his heart and his loyalty to Hayden.
