HEAT (Montgomery Men Book 2) ~ C.A. Harms

Beckett Montgomery is a well-known detective in the New York area. He takes his job seriously and has little time for anything else.
During an investigation in to a series of break-ins of an apartment building on 32nd St., he finds himself getting a little too involved. What had always in the past been his job, now felt as if it was so much more.
He can’t seem to let go of the image of the beautiful, scared blonder face. He found that protecting her became all he could think of. Whatever it took, not matter the cost, he would provide her the security she needed.
He assured himself he would remain professional, he would dedicate himself fully to the task at hand and never would he mix business with pleasure.
Yet with each passing second Beckett spent in the presence of Shanelle Kramer, he found that the need for her only grew. Her beauty alone made him weak in the knees and that was only the beginning.
He had never desired a woman more.
Never felt the need to conquer, or claim, but she was different.
Maybe just one taste would end his addiction for Shanelle?
But one taste was just a tease….
And he needed more, so much more.

I know I may sound like a broken record, but I just LOVE C.A. Harms!! Heat is another great addition to her Montgomery Men Series. Her characters are relate-able and I just want to crawl in to her world and be hang out with these people.

I personally love a man in uniform. Couple that with a sexy, brooding personality and you have Beckett Montgomery. He's hot, protective and has great work ethic. He is also head over heels for Shanelle and doesn't even realize it.

Shanelle is a beautiful woman who thinks the best in people. While that is an admirable quality, it also causes her to get involved with some not so honest people. Not that she is aware of it at the time, but her naivety does work in her favor when the sexy detective comes around and wants to protect her.

As much as Shanelle and Beckett spark, they also but heads at times. His over-protectiveness causes him to push Shanelle away when we can all see that's not what either of them want. The amount of mystery and suspense is just a perfect mix with their sexual tension. Makes for a hot, steamy read and warm feels.

Damnable Grace (Hades Hangmen Book 5) ~ Tillie Cole

Synopsis

EVEN THE BROKEN, THROUGH LOVE, CAN FIND GRACE...

Secrets never stay hidden.

The burden of guilt never lifts from the heart.

Born and raised in The Order of David, Sister Phebe knows nothing but cult life. Head of the Sacred Sisters of New Zion, Phebe was groomed from childhood for one purpose: to seduce. Prized as a harlot, as a New Zion whore, Phebe is taken from the doomed cult by Meister, the notorious leader of the Aryan Brotherhood. Taken as his possession. Taken to be the woman who will obey his every sexual demand. Under his heavy hand, Phebe finds herself in a place much worse than she could ever have imagined... with absolutely no one to help. And no glimpse of hope.

Xavier ‘AK’ Deyes is content with his life as Sergeant-At-Arms of the Hades Hangmen. Leader of the infamous ‘Psycho Trio’ and ex-special ops sniper, AK knows how to fight. Experienced in warfare and schooled in military operations, AK is vital to the Hangmen. When his Vice President needs help retrieving his missing sister-in-law, Phebe, from a Klan-funded trafficking ring, AK volunteers to go in. AK remembers the redhead from New Zion. Remembers everything about her from the single time they met—her red hair, blue eyes and freckled face. But when he finds her, heavily drugged and under Meister’s control, her sorry condition causes him to remember more than the beautiful woman he once tied to a tree. Saving Phebe forces hidden demons from his past to return. A past he can never move on from, no matter how hard he tries.

As AK fights to help Phebe, and in turn she strives to help him, they realize their secret sins will never leave them alone. Kindred broken souls, they realize the only way they can be rid of their ghosts is to face them together and try to find peace.

Despair soon turns to hope, and damaged hearts soon start to heal. But when their deep, painful scars resurface, becoming too much to bear, the time comes when they must make a heavy choice: stay forever damned; or together, find grace.

Dark Contemporary Romance. Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and very mature topics. Recommended for age 18 and over.

Review
This is another great addition to the Hangmen's series! I absolutely love AK and the Psycho Trio! Tillie does an amazing job relaying the emotions of the characters and their mindsets. Even as f*&#ed up as they are, we are still able to understand them and at times relate to their fears, struggles and demons. Tillie does a great job of having the other characters in the book, but still highlighting and focusing on who's story it really is.

Phebe really surprised me at times. I didn't realize all the mental abuse, along with the physical abuse, she suffered. Her brainwashing went down to her soul and affected her severely. The men in these cults were sick, creepy bastards and the men the cult gave Phebe to are not much better. Phebe is so lost and troubled, I wondered if she would ever be able to escape her demons.

AK is just a hero. The tragedy he went through was something fierce. There's no recovery from that, yet he continues to want to save people and do right by them. While it may have started as an obsession for him since he couldn't save certain people, it turned in to something beautiful. His strength and heart are what keep the Trio together and its exactly what Phebe needs. Even if she doesn't realize it just yet.

The emotions in this story gave me goosebumps. The heartache, love, war and death hit you right in the feels. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and I hope the series continues forever. I love each of the Hangmen and want to hear their stories.

Mister Moneybags ~ Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

I met Bianca in an elevator.
She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.
The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.
She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.
Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn't appreciate the simple things in life.
So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn't want it to end.
I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.
I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.
I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.
I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.
And she was falling for two men.
Only, both men were me.
And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.
Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn't prepared for what came after.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

I really liked Mister Moneybags. It was super cute, funny and sexy. It’s amazing the preconceived notions we have about people. Whether that is from past experiences or things we are told by others. There are many times people are thought of as mean or snobby, but they really are shy. The same can be said about the rich and famous.
Mister Moneybags is on the elevator with Bianca and she has no clue. Not until an unexpected situation causes her to get in an awkward conversation with the sexy voiced man behind her. This awkward conversation divulges Bianca’s preconceived notions about the man she is about to interview. I loved this exchange and it made me giggle when I read Dex’s point of view. His panic that he wanted more time with Bianca, but knew it would be over the minute the interview started, was super cute. While the idea to pretend to be someone else was not ideal, it did make for some fun and interesting exchanges.
Bianca and Dex’s relationship has a rocky start, but Dex was completely taken with her. He was willing to do whatever he could to get close to her. Even go so far as finding her hobbies and trying to make some of them his own. As their relationship grows, so does the drama. There’s ex issues, family problems and skeletons that come out of some old closets. The twists are some that I definitely did not expect. Totally threw me for a loop.
Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are “go to” authors. If you see something new from them, one-click immediately! I always enjoy these collaborations and have a great time reading them.

Review

M! Why do you do this to us?! I know you're really not sorry, but GAH! Ends Here was excellent and exactly what I wanted it to be. There were some parts in this story where I did want to stab you, but I still love you.

Ends Here lived up to all the hype and expectations. The angst, drama, emotion and hot sex make up the quintessential formula for a great story.  The twists that occurred in Ends Here were not what I was expecting...well except one. I had my suspicions and theories, but only one of mine was correct.

I love Creed. #TeamCreed all the way, but Noah was able to pull on my heartstrings. Mia's decision was difficult and emotional. At one point, I don't think she even knew where her head or heart was. They all changed in this story. Normally M's characters are wise beyond their years, but she did a great job reminding us of Mia's age. She was a little immature at times until Creed or Noah put stuff in to perspective. She does have a turning point, though, where that little girl goes bye-bye.

I always love M's characters and I love seeing them in other books. I still have my favs, but Creed is a close runner-up. #TEAMCREED. Ya feel me?
